I started photography more years ago than i care to remember with a basic point and shoot camera. Then drifted away from it until I started to scuba diving and wanted to share what was under the waves. Again it was with a basic camera and 24 exposure film. Imagine my dissapointment after developing and finding nothing but green out of focus shots.
The advent of affordable digital cameras and waterproof housings changed all that. Not limited to the number of shots that could be taken I slowly improved with being able to review what was taken whilst still underwater.
I still shoot with a point and shoot but the Canon G16 has a lot more features than just the basics. Adjustments to shutter speed, aperture, ISO and file format have been a revelation.
This also stimulated my interest above the waves and I started on the digital road with a Canon 1000D in 2008, Now using a Canon 7D,  lockdown ended diving for a couple of years and has allowed me to focus on the natural world that is above the waves I'm still learning about other types of photography and hopefully membership of the club will bring that on in leaps and bounds.
