I began to take photos the moment my children were born, I wanted to capture each stage, every moment..everything! (Not great back then I might add).
I was hooked. From leaving school, I wasn't sure which creative direction to take, but this was now my passion. I had my Lumix Panasonic with me almost everywhere. I now have a DSLR Nikon D3100 - the best gift my husband has ever bought me. I am at my happiest clicking away, finding something new around every corner, watching how the light falls and capturing the beauty around us. It was my escape sometimes, something just for me.
I wanted to improve my skills so I attended an evening course at Shipley College.
I love to see images taken by others, see their perspective, viewpoint, composition & styles. I am a florist so I do understand composition, the technique is the same. For me, I enjoy shooting a range of things, flowers, animals, pets, portrait & family (this can be a challenge with teenagers!) I would like to get involved with sport photography as my son plays lots of football.
I really enjoy macro, product & food photography (this would be my dream job).
I would like to expand my skills and try landscape and wildlife photography, (although I don't have many lenses).
Technology is not always my strong point so I find that when it comes to editing/Photoshop, camera settings etc. I have room for improvement; this is something I need to work on to progress. I do shoot manual mode & I am familiar with the main settings.
I have taken photographs for the local school proms, events and festivals. I work for a photography studio and I love working within the environment, meeting people, although this is a 'behind the scenes' based role I would much prefer to be behind the camera!
My ability & confidence has grown since being at Shipley Camera Club and I have known Andrew & his family for many years.
The group are very friendly and always at hand to offer help & advice. I feel they accommodate for all abilities, so I do aspire to improve my skills to their standard (one of these days.)
During lockdown, I lost touch with my camera. I wasn't doing much at all, (a puppy arrived so we were consumed in training etc.) so now it’s time to get back out there and start enjoying it again.
I’m ready to take another shot.
