I have been a member of the Shipley Camera Group since April 2019 a couple of weeks after it was created by Andrew. I initially followed Andrew's page, A-H-Photography, on Facebook from January 2017 and when he mentioned about forming a camera club on his own personal page I was eager to join and haven't looked back since.
I have always had an artistic streak in me having done many drawings since a young age, mainly of comic and cartoon characters. I studied art in school and had a couple of my drawings chosen for exhibitions. One was chosen to hang in Stockton-on-Tees Town Hall which was a drawing of the junior school I attended, I doubt the drawing is still there though and the other was a portrait of former school classmate in secondary school which was chosen for an art exhibition in the House of Commons and involved a school trip to London.
I unfortunately didn't follow up this interest in art by going to college, it is only in the last 6 years or so that I have found my artistic interest develop into photography. I am self-taught by just getting out of there with the camera, watching YouTube tutorials and reading articles on the internet. I am always learning and I say you can never know everything about the art of photography as there is always something new to learn.
I am particularly interested in landscape photography along with aerial and astrophotography. Going forward, I'm keen to learn other aspects of photography such as wildlife, maybe portrait but I particularly liked the group event we did with light photography, that was very interesting and great fun. Being a member of the club is also a great opportunity to meet new friends, share knowledge and ideas, along with bringing people together with a common love and passion for photography.
